Changing or Cancelling an Accepted Order

Once a Proposal is accepted, it becomes a binding Order between the Marketer and Publisher. If your plans change, discuss the change with the other user and record what you both agree in the Order conversation.

When is an Order accepted?

  • Direct Proposal: the Order is formed when the Publisher accepts the Marketer’s Proposal.
  • Offer Request: the Order is formed when the Marketer accepts a Publisher’s Proposal. A second Publisher acceptance is not required.

An invoice is generated in the Publisher’s name on acceptance. Payment is required before publication, but an unpaid accepted Order is still binding.

How to request a change

  1. Open Orders and select the relevant Order ID to open its conversation. You can also find the conversation in Inbox.
  2. Explain exactly what needs to change, such as the article, anchor text, target URL, delivery deadline, price or publication period.
  3. Ask the other user to confirm the revised terms in the conversation before proceeding.
  4. Keep the agreed changes with the Order records. If the invoice or Platform record needs correction and the available controls do not allow it, contact Support with the Order ID.

Changing a website listing, editing an Offer Request or sending new instructions does not automatically change an already accepted Order. Any subsequent change requires agreement by both users. A replacement on a different website also requires the Marketer’s approval.

How to request cancellation

Use the Order conversation to explain why you want to cancel. Ask the other user to confirm whether they agree and what happens to any work already performed or payment already made. Record the agreed cancellation, any amount to be refunded and the repayment arrangements.

Do not assume that leaving an invoice unpaid, stopping replies or deleting an article cancels the Order. If the Order view does not offer a cancellation control, use the conversation and contact Support for help with the Platform record. A support request alone does not establish cancellation or a refund entitlement.

What happens to payments?

For independently arranged Orders, placement payments and any refunds are handled directly between the Marketer and Publisher under their Order and applicable law, including through the relevant payment provider where appropriate. Posticy does not hold placement funds in escrow.

If payment has already been made, include the invoice and payment reference when discussing a refund. Cancelling an Order does not automatically refund the placement fee, a Premium subscription or purchased Connects. See Paying a Publisher for Your Order.

Are Connects restored?

The restoration rules for cancelling an unanswered direct Proposal or an Offer Request before it creates an Order are different from cancellation after acceptance. Consumed Connects are not restored merely because an accepted Order is cancelled, publication does not occur or a collaboration is unsuccessful. Premium covers eligible Platform actions; it does not pay the Publisher’s placement fee.

For the separate pre-acceptance rules, read Understanding Connects on Posticy.

If the article has already been published

Report missing or changed links, incorrect delivery or early removal through the Order conversation. These issues may require correction, an agreed replacement or a refund rather than simple cancellation. Read Removed Articles, Changed Links and Placement Refunds.

Orders arranged through managed services

Managed services follow your written service agreement or accepted quotation. Cancelling the service does not automatically cancel existing authorized Orders. Posticy and the client confirm in writing how outstanding Orders will be completed or cancelled. The managed service cancellation, unused budget and replacement provisions are separate from independent Marketplace Orders.
